The Grand Prix du Bourbonnais, the second qualifying race for the Grand Prix d’Amérique, gave way to a suspenseful final phase. Thanks to a magnificent effort, Délia du Pommereux won for the second time in a row in this event.
It was necessary to deal with particular climatic conditions, Sunday, December 8 at the Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes, for the Grand Prix du Bourbonnais. The track proved painful following heavy rains, which upset some competitors. Very sharp and not at all bothered by the state of the ash, Delia du Pommereux quickly occupied the front posts, then was relayed by the crack Bold Eagle. The double winner of the Grand Prix d’Amérique has long believed in victory, before his rival comes to beat him with a breath on the pole. The partner of Franck Nivard has managed a nice doubling after his victory in 2018 in this same confrontation at the top. Bold Eagle retained second place, ahead of Billie de Montfort, Uza Josselyn, the best impression of the race thanks to its stunning finish, and Enino du Pommereux.
Delia du Pommereux, Bold Eagle and Billie de Montfort thus obtained their qualification ticket for the Grand Prix d’Amérique 2020. They joined the list Davidson du Pont, Chica de Joudes and Looking Superb, who had won the precious sesame on 17 November, in the Grand Prix de Bretagne. The next two qualifying events will be held Sunday, December 22 at Paris-Vincennes. Only one ticket will be awarded to the winner of the Critérium Continental and the Prix Ténor de Baune.
