Power failed to win the Prix d’Amerique Races ZEturf QUALIF # 3 Critérium Continental on Sunday December 27th. A victory would have allowed him to obtain his visa for the Ultimate Finals: Prix d’Amerique Legend Race, Prix de France Speed Race, Prix de Paris Marathon Race. However, the small Swedish champion made an impression on Saturday, January 16. He won Prix de Croix, a Group II, notably beating Gu d’Héripré, winner of the Critérium Continental and therefore qualified for the Finals.
The style of his success was so convincing that Robert Bergh, his trainer, told the media that Power could try his hand at Prix d’Amerique Legend Race. Admittedly, the 5-year-old does not qualify but there are 7 potential places left to participate in the Harness World Championship on Sunday 31 January. Indeed, the race can accommodate 18 competitors maximum and the qualifying events have distributed 11 visas. The richest protagonists will be selected in order of the highest earnings. As for Gu d’Héripré, only fifth in Prix de Croix, he is in some trouble and his participation in the Ultimate Finals seems compromised.
