Örjan Kihlström : the Grand Prix d’Amérique experience

His rivals in the forthcoming Grand Prix d’Amerique are afraid of him and his partner Propulsion who has just brilliantly won the Grand Prix de Bourgogne. Örjan Kihlström, the Swedish Top driver, already a winner in the Big Race in 2016 with Maharajah, is back to the scene of his victory with a lot of experience. And high ambitions too.

Physically, Örjan Kihlström has nothing to inspire fear. Not that tall – for a Scandinavian man -, early baldness over a short snowy haircut, an anodyne build and polar blue eyes giving him a shy look increased by a whispering voice. In the common life, Örjan Kihlström is the sweetest and the most reserved man. On a track, it is a quite different thing. Even if his natural courtesy remains at the very heart of the race, (remember, in the former Grand Prix d’Amerique, the way he moved away with Propulsion so as not to interfere with his rivals), his thirst for victory is unquenchable.

In France, he started with Naglo : 2 victories in the Grand Prix de France 2004 and 2005, not to mention the Group II Prix Ariste Hémard 2003 and Prix de Belgique fifteen days later. Almost unknown in France at this time, “Iceman” had just presented his business card. Ever since, along withSolvato, Maharajah and Lionel, everybody knows this talented, cold-blooded man, also gifted with a rare skill for tactical situations. He has won every big races in Sweden, entering the Trotting Hall of Fame with more than 6.000 victories.

Soon 56 yo, this son of a Swedish trainer in Bollnäs (center of Sweden) will be one of the biggest favourite in the Final of the EpiqE Series Trot Circuit with his partner Propulsion for whom trainer Daniel Redén loudly proclaims his great confidence. Very used to those so specific parisian races (13 participations in the Grand Prix d’Amérique), his driver’s huge experience, already a winner in 2014 with Maharajah, is certainly the reason why.
