Even if Ready Cash’s retirement attracted the most comments following the 2014 Prix de Bourgogne (the third of the four Prix d’Amérique preps), the race has sparked other interest over the last few days concerning a number of Big Race possibles.
Solvato: Steeped in American bloodlines, the smart Prix de Bourgogne winner has also been in the news on the other side of the Atlantic thanks to his younger sister Shake It Cerry who was elected US Horse of the Year after an outstanding season. Now that’s what you call a family!
Maven: According to his Canadian driver Yannick Gingras, Solvato’s win only heightens Maven’s chances on the Big Day, who “can beat him Solvato anytime”. Unlucky behind two rivals, Maven will be driven by Ready Cash’s ex-driver, Franck Nivard, in the Prix d’Amérique.
Roxane Griff: The chances for the richest French mare of all times have been boosted. An excellent but unlucky fourth last time, her owner had regrets but she nevertheless raised their ambitions not only for January 25th, but for the 19th too in the Prix de Cornulier under saddle where she will be defending her title against Tiego d’Etang who also returned a fine performance in the Bourgogne.
