Eric Raffin dreams about Prix d’Amérique Legend Race

Profile

27 January 2021

He won two Sulkies d’Or (trophy which rewards the best driver of the year) in a row in 2019 and 2020. His record includes numerous victories in Group I events, in particular three Prix de Cornulier, the Championship of Mounted Trotting World. Yet Eric Raffin has yet to win the race every professional dreams of: the Prix d’Amerique Legend Race. The 38-year-old pilot tried his luck several times and obtained several convincing runners-up. He was second in 2012 and fourth in 2014 associated with Roxane Griff, and third in 2011 with Olga du Biwetz.

In the 2021 edition, the Vendéen, who has more than 3,700 total successes in his career, will drive Délia du Pommereux, announced by many as the third favorite behind Face Time Bourbon and Davidson du Pont. The tandem formed for the first time on Sunday January 17th, in the Prix d’Amérique Races ZEturf QUALIF # 6 Prix de Belgique. Result: a superb second place behind the aforementioned Davidson du Pont. A fruitful baptism of fire which probably increased Eric Raffin’s ambitions tenfold. His partner, third previously in the QUALIF # 5 Prix de Bourgogne, looks better than ever before his third participation in the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race (she was sixth last year and disqualified in 2019). The popular tandem will in any case have many supporters.
