By winning his first Group I at the Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes last Sunday at the Prix de France Speed Race, Vivid Wise As has only enriched a five-star business card.
His resounding victory on Sunday in the Prix de France Speed Race gave him his first Group I on the racecourse of reference in the world: Paris-Vincennes. It is a line that was missing from the formidable track record of this trotter with a pedigree strongly marked by the blood of the American trotter and flying the Italian flag.
It is logically in his country of origin that he began his career as a drum major, under the responsibility of Marco Smorgon: Vivid Wise As goes on to win and concludes his 2-year-old year with a Group I success in the Gran Premio Allevatori in Rome. Winner of two new Group I in Italy at the age of 3, the son of Yankee Glide crossed the Alps for the first time in the summer of 2017. On the track at Enghien, he won the Prix Henri Cravoisier (Group III). Vivid Wise As is only 3 years old but he is already considered a star in Italy. We see in him the future Varenne (double winner of the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race).
A true specialist in short distances
Star from an early age, this very handsome colt was bought back for €110,000 by his co-breeder, Antonio Somma during the ITS Yearling Sale. The other co-breeder of Vivid Wise As, the Allevamento della Serenissima, is one of the historic claws of Italian trotting. Trained for a time by Sébastien Guarato in France, without the Ornais professional failing to get the best out of the Italian trotter, Vivid Wise As will then be under the thumb of Alessandro Gocciadoro who will make him win three Criteriums de Vitesse de la Côte d’Azur (score which he will try to improve next month), a Prix de l’Atlantique at Enghien, a Gran Premio Gaetano Turilli, a European Grand Prix and a Nations Grand Prix. In Scandinavia, passed under the responsibility of Björn Goop, Vivid Wise As was going to fail very narrowly at the arrival of the Final of the Elitloppet 2021 behind Don Fanucci Zet. All his successes have been achieved over distances less than or equal to 2,250 meters and the hope of victory in the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race seems difficult to attain. Unless Vivid Wise As has more surprises in store for us in the future.
