The Prix d’Amérique Races ZEturf competition ended with a superb race on Sunday February 27 at the Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes. At the end of a breathless scenario, the Prix de Paris Marathon Race, third and final Final, crowned Diable de Vauvert, who had targeted this Group I for a very long time.

Contested on the longest course of the Temple du Trot, the Prix de Paris Marathon Race offered a journey of 4,150 meters, consisting of two laps of the Large Track and two passages of the pitiless climb. The event turned out to be very tactical and many stints followed one another in the lead. In the last bend, Galius, beaten by the minimum in the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race, seemed to fly to victory. The resident of Séverine Raimond however had to bow first against Etonnant, the title holder who had not left the outposts, and especially Diable de Vauvert, who had waited as long as possible to attack. Bertrand Le Beller’s protege finished strongest to glean a splendid success. Etonnant erased two disappointments in the other Finals by taking the honors, ahead of Galius, a remarkable third.

Since his second place last year, Diable de Vauvert had been carefully prepared by those around him for this great goal. He fulfilled his contract perfectly and even broke the race record in 1’13”3, against 1’13”5 for the previous mark. The 9-year-old trotter also won the first Group I of his career, like his mentor. A family victory also since Tony Le Beller, driver of the winner, won for his brother Bertrand, the trainer. The driver was obviously moved after his success: “I had a great run, everything went well, I’m delighted. My little brother prepared this meeting with Diable de Vauvert beautifully. I am all the more happy that I won my first Group I in France there”.
