It is the unmissable meeting point of the trotter galaxy. A legendary race that all drivers, trainers, lads, breeders and owners dream of winning. The Prix d’Amerique Legend Race, commonly referred to as the World Harness Trotting Championship, will be held this Sunday, January 31 at the Paris-Vincennes Hippodrome. A special 2021 edition, deprived of the enthusiastic public of the Parisian precinct, but with a sporting and emotional impact still exceptional. The list of 18 protagonists is now known.
Many specialists and assiduous observers await a duel at the top between two super champions: Face Time Bourbon, defending champion and holder of the track speed record, and Davidson du Pont, his runner-up last year and winner of the last race preparatory. The first named impresses with his dazzling track record, at only 5 years old, and the ease of his triumphs. He totaled 28 victories and 4 second places in just 33 competitive outings, only one loss in his career. His rival, victorious multiple times at the highest level, however managed to beat him in February 2020, in the Prix de France Speed Race. It’s also a clash between two of today’s top coaches: Sébastien Guarato, Face Time Bourbon‘s mentor, and Jean-Michel Bazire, Davidson du Pont‘s trainer and driver. The former has won the Prix d’Amerique Legend Race three times (Bold Eagle in 2016 and 2017 and Face Time Bourbon in 2020), against two trophies for JMB (Késaco Phédo in 2004 and Belina Josselyn in 2019).
This shock tandem will however have to face 16 formidable opponents. Among them are the 9 other champions who obtained their passports for the UItimate Finals. The Prix d’Amérique Races ZEturf competition consists of six qualifying events and three top races: the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race, the Prix de France Speed Race and the Prix de Paris Marathon Race. The star who wins all three races in a row will complete the fantastic challenge of Ultimate, a grand feat achieved only five times in the past. Along with Face Time Bourbon and Davidson du Pont, the qualified horses are called Diable de Vauvert, Feliciano, Bahia Quesnot, Victor Ferm, Moni Viking, Gu d’Héripré, Féérie Wood, Vivid Wise As and Délia du Pommereux. They all have a chance to shake the two favorites. The 2021 Prix d’Amerique Legend Race undoubtedly brings together all the ingredients to deliver a spectacular and thrilling race.
