What&#8217;s more, the outcome remains in the balance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bidding to match legendary <strong>Ourasi<\/strong>&#8216;s three consecutive Am\u00e9rique wins, <strong>Bold Eagle<\/strong> will have to be at the top of his game this year to do so. S\u00e9bastien Guarato&#8217;s charge has yet to score this winter, finishing runner-up to <strong>Bird Parker<\/strong> (twice) and <strong>Propulsion<\/strong>. But the son of <strong>Ready Cash<\/strong> has not lost the war yet, and his 15 career G1 trophies draw respect. What&#8217;s more, totalling 5 Am\u00e9rique trophies, <strong>Bold Eagle<\/strong>&#8216;s driver Franck Nivard boasts the most wins of any pilot in activity.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s edition looks especially tactical as just three trainers provide more than half of the race&#8217;s runners. S\u00e9bastien Guarato has no less than 5: <strong>Bold Eagle<\/strong>, <strong>Valko Jenilat<\/strong> (Grand Prix de Bretagne), <strong>Billie de Monfort<\/strong>, <strong>Booster Winner<\/strong> and 2017 Crit\u00e9rium des 5 Ans victor <strong>Carat Williams<\/strong>. Swedish handler Daniel Red\u00e9n sends three to post: <strong>Propulsion<\/strong> (Grand Prix de Bourgogne),<strong> Lionel<\/strong> and <strong>Wild Honey<\/strong>. And bang-on-form Philippe Allaire who saddled last Sunday&#8217;s Cornulier winner is represented by <strong>Bird Parker<\/strong> (currently leading the EpiqE Series Challenge) and <strong>Charly du Noyer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>19-time Champion driver and 4-time Am\u00e9rique victor Jean-Michel Bazire may well upset them all with last year&#8217;s runner-up <strong>B\u00e9lina Josselyn<\/strong>. For the first time this winter, the flamboyant chestnut mare will be running barefoot. <strong>Voltigeur de Myrt<\/strong> will be competing in his fourth Am\u00e9rique, and tough nut <strong>Oasis Bi<\/strong> (3rd in 2016) is back again on French soil for his final major challenge.<\/p>\n<h4> <strong> Career firsts <\/strong> <\/h4>\n<p>Four drivers will be competing for the first time. Mathieu Mottier (late scratch last year with Anna Mix) teams up with <strong>Booster Winner<\/strong>. <strong>Lionel<\/strong>&#8216;s owner G\u00f6ran Antonsen goes to post on board his colt who finished 3rd in 2017.
